The city of Nelson, B.C. holds a very special place in our hearts, and is a cherished family location that has brought us back to The Kootenays again and again. After years of return visits, our family has our favorite haunts and hangouts, but we continue to be surprised by the new experiences and adventures Nelson brings! Surrounded by stunning mountains and set on the shores of pristine Kootenay Lake, Nelson has been called the prettiest small town in Canada. Home to over 350 restored heritage buildings, Nelson's charm creates the quintessential storybook setting. The vibes in Nelson are those of a small Kootenay town nestled in the mountains, both rich in history and quiet in nature. Described as eclectic, artistic, outdoorsy, bohemian and progressive, Nelson has a little something for everyone.

Driving to Nelson: No matter where you are coming from, the drive to Nelson is sure to be gorgeous as you travel through stunning mountain terrain. Castlegar Airport: 35 mins drive from Nelson You can also fly into Castlegar Airport and either rent a car, Uber in or take a cab or shuttle bus into the city of Nelson. For International Guests: Flying into Calgary, Alberta or Vancouver British Columbia will be your best bet. Following your arrival, you could rent a car and drive the remainder of the way or you could fly into the Castlegar airport on your way to Nelson.

We will have fun community events planned in the days leading up to the ceremony (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) as well as a casual post- ceremony gathering the day following the event in the afternoon on an acreage property a quick 5 mins from Nelson. These various community events and schedule will be announced a few months prior to the vow renewal, and will be under "Itinerary Activates" in the taskbar. Beginning Tuesday, August 19th and going through to August 23rd, think BBQ and beach day at The Rotary Park, a trip to Ainsworth Hot Springs, a hike through Rails to Trails, snacks and coffee post ceremony at our air b and b 5 mins outside of Nelson, etc... There is absolutely no pressure to join in on any of these extra events, but as many of you will be making a trip out of this event, we are hoping to help you in creating special memories in a place that we hold near and dear to our hearts.
